Production Process Of Powergate FRP Pultruded Grating PowerGrate Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Pultruded Grating is manufactured by assembling two structural fiberglass shapes (cross and bearing bars) into a grid pattern. These bar shapes are made by a pultrusion - a continuous molding process utilizing glass or fibrous
reinforcement in a polyester or vinyl ester resin matrix. Selected reinforcement materials like glass strands, mat or cloth are drawn through a resin where the material is thoroughly impregnated with a liquid resin.
The fibrous laminate is formed to a geometric shape (T or I) and pulled through a heated steel die. The laminate solidifies into the exact shape of the die cavity as it is being continuously pulled by the pultrusion machine.

Higher Stiffness
PowerGrate pultruded grating possesses approximately 65% glass and 35% resin content by weight, giving it a very high strength to weight ratio. Load bearing bar capacity can be tailored to the application by modifying the glass content, fiber orientation, and combination of mat and roving reinforcement.
Chemical Resistance
PowerGrate pultruded gratings offer superb chemical resistance to variety of acids and caustics. PowerGrate pultruded grating is offered in an array of corrosion resistant resins designed for any environment, from light or moderately corrosive environments to extremely corrosive applications. PowerGrate pultruded grating is offered in either premium lsophthalic polyester, vinyl ester, or phenolic resins.
LightWeight
PowerGrate Pultruded Gratings weight much less than comparable steel gratings-as much as 50%-75% weight savings can be realized depending on the bearing bar configuration. For weight sensitive structures, such as a tension-leg platform for an offshore deepwater facility, the use of PowerGrate pultruded grating offers significant
weight savings, thereby reducing the overall cost of the project.
